Myths About Jim Wagner

All information on this website is the official version concerning Jim Wagner and his associates. There are many companies worldwide distributing Jim Wagner Reality-Based Personal Protection products on the market today, and as such there are many marketing approaches completely out of the hands of Jim Wagner. Some marketing campaigns are accurate concerning Jim Wagner and his system, and some have exaggerations and inaccurate information in order to sell the products.

MYTH:  Jim Wagner was a United States Marine.
TRUTH: Jim Wagner was never a United States Marine, however, he has trained extensively with the United States Marine Corps and has taught many courses to the United States Marine Corps over several years. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION

MYTH:  Jim Wagner trained the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
TRUTH: Jim Wagner has never trained the CIA. This myth may have been confused with Jim Wagner training with the 19th Special Forces Group Military Intelligence Detatchement. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION

MYTH: Jim Wagner was a Special Forces soldier.
TRUTH: Jim Wagner was a combat radio operator in the United States Army (Regular) with the HHC 43rd Engineer Battalion, Combat, Heavy. He was then a Physical Security Non Commissioned Officer (NCO) with the Provost Marshal Office of the California State Military Reserve beginning in 2006 attached to the 40th Infantry Division (Mechanized) Support Group. However, Jim Wagner has trained with the United States Army 19th Special Forces, the United States Army Naval Air Station Security Police Whidbey Island, and members of the U.S. Marine FAST (Fleet Anti-Terrorist Security Team), and has been an official instructor for the German Special Forces, Spanish Special Forces, the U.S. Air Force Security Forces Special Response Team, the Brazilian Air Force Special Aviation Police Group (GEPA Commando Unit), and the Brazilian Rio Grande Do Sul Military Brigade Special Operations. Jim Wagner has also trained many law enforcement Special Operations teams including the U.S. Federal Marshal Service Special Operations Group (SOG), FBI SWAT, Brazilian GATE, Argentinean GOE, Koninklijke Marechaussee Schiphol (Dutch Police Counterterrorism for Schiphol International Airport), Los Angeles School Police SWAT, Los Angles Housing Police Special Response Team, Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (German counterterrorist team GSG9), Correctional Service Canada Matsqui Prison IERT Team, Playas de Rosarito SWAT (Mexico), and the United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper School. MYTH:  Jim Wagner was a SWAT Entry Team member.
TRUTH:  Corporal Jim Wagner was the Command Post Operations Officer on the Costa Mesa Swat Team from March 11, 1994 to On May 24, 1997. He would end up serving for three years, two months, and 13 days on the Team. This was on the Tactical side of the house that required intelligence gathering from the kill zone, tactical diagramming, and information organization for tactical planning. Corporal Wagner’s secondary duty was to provide inner perimeter security (armed) when assigned. Although Corporal Wagner was not on the Entry Team he was trained in Entry Team tactics and was responsible for setting up several training scenarios for his Entry Team. As a patrol officer he has done many high risk stealth and dynamic entries, including two hostage rescues. Through his own tactical training company Jim Wagner has trained many SWAT teams in Entry Team tactics. He has also received Entry Team tactics training from German counterterrorist team GSG9, the Israeli Special Forces, U.S. Marines, U.S. Army Special Forces, Los Angeles Police Department SWAT, U.S. Air Force Security Forces, and many others. FOR MORE INFORMATION CLICK HERE

MYTH: Jim Wagner claims to have been a Los Angeles Police Department officer.
TRUTH:  Jim Wagner was a full-time paid police officer for the Costa Mesa Police Department just south of Los Angeles. He served in this department from 1988 to 1999. He was never a police officer for the LAPD. A Brazilian newspaper stated that Jim Wagner was a "Los Angeles police officer." Perhaps this was to give the readers a general location of where Jim Wagner served, or perhaps they misquoted Jim Wagner.
