Course Descriptions
Level 3
To take any Level 3 courses you must be a certified Level 1 instructor and Level 2 instructor.
Women’s Survival  Monday, 8 am to 5 pm
This course is designed for those professional men and women who want to teach girls and women how to protect themselves in a variety of all too real situations women face today: sexual harassment, sexual assault, and domestic violence. We’ll take you step-by-step through the 16 hour Women’s Survival Student Course lesson plan and demonstrate each technique you’ll need to know, as well as what lectures to give that will make your female students “hard targets.” Most of the techniques in this course you will have already known from your Level 1 training, but some of it will be slightly modified to fit this program and the specific needs of women. One of the most important aspects of this course is teaching you how to safely conduct Conflict Rehearsals that prepare your students emotionally and physically for a real conflict, and how not to push them beyond their individual capabilities as well.

Children’s Survival  Tuesday, 8 am to 5 pm
This course is not for children, but for those adults who want to teach children about safety and self-defense. We’ll guide you through the exact lesson plans and teaching techniques for each age group – from kindergarten students to 17 year olds. In addition, you’ll learn how to educate parents in how to better protect their children, which will also help you promote your other Reality-Based Personal Protection courses to the community. Jim Wagner gained his experience in teaching children when he was a D.A.R.E. Officer (Drug Abuse Resistance Education and Violence Avoidance) trained by the Los Angeles Police Department. Believe it or not, those Reality-Based instructors who have already gone through this course say it is probably the hardest course out of all the Level 1 and Level 2 courses, because there are some surprises in this course that will both challenge you and help you grow as an instructor.

Advertising & Marketing  Thursday, 8 am to 5 pm
After service in the United States Army, Jim Wagner worked in the field of advertising for a few years before entering into law enforcement. In college he excelled in graphic arts, became a graphic artist, worked his way up to Art Director for a couple of magazines and advertising agencies, and finishing that career as the president of a firm. Although the Jim Wagner Reality-Based Personal Protection system is relatively new to the martial arts world, born on January 21, 2003, this system has spread rapidly throughout the world. The reason is because of good advertising and marketing under the direction of Jim Wagner. In this course we are going to teach you the basics on what you need to know to promote yourself and your school. We’ll take you step-by-step in how to write catchy copy, layout and design, how to make a corporate identity package, and who you need to contact for various projects. We’ll also teach you the three marketing phases of the Jim Wagner Reality-Based Personal Protection system.

DVD Video Production  Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
In today’s society those self-defense instructors who succeed are those who know how to visually appeal to their market audience. The way to reach people is through website movies, training DVDs, and even television commercials. In this hands-on course we are going to teach you step-by-step how to put together your own production. With technology becoming more and more affordable and you don’t need any previous experience. We will prepare you for televised interviews, how to make a web commercial (one that you will get to keep at the end of the course), and how to make your own training DVDs that are well organized and have an air of professionalism about them. We’ll cover pre-production, production, and post-production. Topics also covered are editing, duplication, and distribution. This course also highlights how you can tape your students or your own training and use the footage as a training tool.
