Knife Attacks from Around the World
As a police and military Defensive Tactics instructor Jim Wagner has trained elite units around the world, literally from the jungles of Argentina to the sand dunes of the Middle East, and has had the opportunity to learn about knife attacks from various cultures: military methods, police methods, criminal and terrorist methods. A first of its kind this DVD is a collection of demonstrations based on years of personal experiences and global training sessions in order to share these various knife attacks, not to teach people how to hurt others, but to open people’s eyes to what they can expect when they come up against one of these realistic attacks, and to be better equipped to defend themselves in so doing. This DVD covers over a dozen worldwide attacks such as the Middle East Pass & Stab, New York City “Snuffing,” military Sentry Removal, as well as the Columbian slice, the Gypsy warning stab, Filipino kali walking the arm, seat assassination, and much more. After viewing this DVD you’ll have a more realistic understanding of how knife attacks occur, which will make your own knife defense training more reality-based.

Metric Arm Strikes & Blocks System
It doesn’t take years to learn real self defense. It takes days. When it comes to learning everything you need to know about punching and blocking with your hands and arms it only takes hours using the Jim Wagner Metric Arm Striking & Blocking system, then it is up to the student to perfect and maintain their skills. What does it mean “Metric System” when referring to self-defense? We all know that the mathematical metric system is based on the number 10, such as 10 millimeters in one centimeter. In the Reality-Based Personal Protection there are only 10 ways to strike a person, 10 blocking angles, 10 directions in which the human body can move from one point to another, and this rule holds true whether you are a housewife protecting yourself with a knife against an intruder or a counterterrorist operator moving in on a target. The 10 primary directions are forward, backward, horizontal, vertical, and diagonal. Jim Wagner takes you step-by-step through all 10 strikes and blocks. For those in traditional-based and sport-based systems Jim Wagner’s discovery is liberating, and you come to realize that there are not “thousands” of blocks and punches. It all boils down to 10.

Metric Leg Strikes & Blocks System
There are only 10 possible impact directions to choose from if you launch a leg strike in self-defense, and 10 possible directions the bad guy will use in attempting to kick you. Since I am the first self-defense instructor to discover this “truth” I have aptly named my discovery the Jim Wagner Metric Striking & Blocking system. Whether you are a Special Forces soldier moving up on an insurgent strong hold or a doorman deflecting an incoming kick to the groin, you will do so by using one of the primary directions: forward, backward, horizontal, vertical or diagonal. If we count each of these directions forward and backward make up two directions; 1 and 2. The horizontal plane is comprises two more distinct directions, left and right, thus making it 3 and 4. On the vertical plane, up and down, you have angles 5 and 6. Then there are only four diagonal directions making the letter “X.” Angles 7 and 8 are downward diagonals, and 9 and 10 are upward diagonals. Thus, the total amount of primary directions, or angles, amount to 10. For this reason I named it the Metric Striking & Blocking system since the system is based on 10. Many traditional martial artists will have a hard time accepting the fact that there are only ten directions to kick someone because most have been told by their own instructors or instructional DVDs that there are innumerable ways to kick an opponent. For some reason the majority of martial arts practitioners think that “more is better.” Yet, if you look at any military manual, both past and present, they always present few techniques. Military combatives systems are based on primary angles, even if they don’t come right out and state it. The reason for this is clear – battle field techniques must be simple and effective. Police agencies have also adopted many military techniques and training methods since they are paramilitary organizations themselves. In these fighting systems you don’t see high kicks, spinning kicks, or gymnastic like moves. Since the Jim Wagner Reality-Based Personal Protection system was born from police and military systems. The Jim Wagner Metric Leg Striking & Blocking system reflect the same practical no-nonsense techniques and training methods.
Shocknife Stressblade
Martial artists do not fear a rubber or plastic knife coming at them. They don’t imagine it as a real blade. However, when you are attack them with the Shocknife Stressblade nobody seems brave enough to try to stop my attack with one hand. They ALWAYS use two hands to try to stop the weapon. They have no doubt that the blade is going to “bite” them, and they don’t want that. This is the only training knife that puts fear into people. With a single standard 9 volt battery this training knife that delivers up to 7,500 volts and less than1 milliamp circulating around the cutting edges and the point of a durable plastic blade. Touch any of these danger areas with your hand and you’ll let go immediately just like you would touching a real knife or a hot stove. Your natural instincts force you to let go. The Shocknife is a standard tool for the Jim Wagner Reality-Based Personal Protection Knife Survival course.
